I did this painting for my Landscape painting class. The assignment was to take photos and do studies of animals at the zoo and their faux habitats, then to create a painting of our own composition based off those photos and studies. I based this painting off of what I learned from my photos and studies, but not really any particular one of them.
The arctic foxes at the Denver Zoo had their winter coats still, and were really active that day. There are a few cool looking twisted wood pieces and logs in there that I liked too.
I named the painting Ciro because he's supposed to be one of my characters; a world travelling arctic fox with brilliant sun coloured eyes (thus his name Ciro, which means 'sun' in Italian).
Original is acrylic paints on 15" X 20" illustration board copyright to Katie Hofgard
omg I love him! He looks so great, and I love the expression on his face! The blending of colors, especially in the sky, is really impressive. great job ^^
