Artist's Comments

My final project for my Basic Illustration class, done all in black technical pens with a teensy bit of white gouache for touch-ups (sepia tone and border in photoshop). The assignment for this one was to illustrate a fortune cookie phrase, but we could stretch it as far as we wanted, as long as it still sort of pertained to the original phrase. Mine was "Something unusual will happen to you at work or school." So maybe this is a researcher's desk who recently unrolled a Japanese scroll, and unwittingly released a terrible fox demon into the world! Or something... XD

I had a lot of fun with this piece, especially with a medium I'm unfamiliar with. I know that the muzzle looks weasel-ish, and the cast shadows are pointing in different directions, and I'm sure there's plenty other stuff that's wrong with it, but like the other class projects, I've had enough critique for this one. I did touch it some when I got it back, like pushed the darks a little bit more.

The sepia is a nice touch I think.
Rather than being appalled by the idea of setting a demon loose on the world, I'm rather entranced by him and all his teeth. ^.^ *laughs* Now if only the fortune cookies I've gotten resulted in such interesting scenerios.

I believe in Jesus Christ as my Savior. If you do too and aren’t scared to admit it, then copy and paste this in your signature.

Wow! I really like the idea behind this and the perspective is great! The twice-cast shadows could be due to two different light sources in the room too, yanno? :P Very spiffy. :D

"'Well, then', the Cat went on. 'You see a dog growls when it's angry, and wags its tail when it's pleased. Now I growl when I'm pleased, and wag my tail when I'm angry. Therefore I'm mad.'"

Definately a fun piece to view, besides create I'm sure. Your ideas are always so creative. I think I'm repeating myself there, but it's true.
