I haven't uploaded anything for a month, so I thought I'd finally post this children's book illustration I did for class last semester. This is Jonny Appleseed helping bandage the wolf's leg after finding him in a hunter's trap. The wolf then becomes his traveling companion!

I painted this entire thing in gesso and payne's gray acrylic before glazing color (also in acrylic) over it. It was my first time trying the technique. I think it was successful in creating ground and environment textures, but I'm not pleased with the way the wolf looks. I like Jonny's face though, I should paint more humans. =)

Sorry for my absense! I'm in a bit of an art lull, but I wanted to share some stuff that's been sitting around with you anyway.

This is an amazing rendition of Johnny Appleseed. I absolutely love it. He looks so kind in it!


Fun fact: Johnny Appleseed was buried in the city I live in. That's probably why I'm so into his story. He's like a celebrity to me, and you captured him beautifully!

I love the guy's face. I agree, you should paint more humans. I like the whole piece a lot overall, it's very nice.
