A piece for my conceptual illustration class illustrating an article titled "Putting a Stop to Slave Labor". In a nutshell, the article is about undocumented Mexican workers in America, and the effect they have on the American economy. It involves the impact that deporting all of them, or raising their pay to minimum wage would have on the US economy as well.

Here's a link to the full article if you're interested in reading it: [link]

I worked in acrylics again, but this time using a different technique that frankly I'm not comfortable with. The way I tend to use the paint though, it didn't work fast enough for me, and as a result is a little looser looking painting style. I just need to get used to this, it could work out fantastically for me if I put more time into practicing. I'm still pretty damned pleased with this, especially the way the snake turned out. =3

Wow... interesting concept!! The painting style looks pretty, too... I love how the eye is directed from the flag to the eagle's eyes, then to the snake and then to the flag again. :) (at least... that's how my eye travelled XD)

By any chance, would this article be online somewhere?

but why does this sandwich have arms?
Why yes! I just found the article online: [link]
Interesting analogy; but the problem of slave labor is not limited only to Mexicans, or for that matter, Hispanics. There is also the problem of Asian slave labor; the so called "Sweat Shops" that churn out "counterfeit" goods from major companies like Gucci, Louis Vutton and the like. The problem is far more than just a few Mexicans picking up lettuce and tomatoes in California.

I do not approve of illegals coming into our country and putting a strain on our welfare system, but I detest it when greedy politicians (from both sides of the aisle) that use illegal aliens as a means of buying votes by misinforming them and cohercing them into voting for them by using fear tactics on them.

Putting a fence on the border or deporting them is nothing more than putting a Band-Aid on an open head wound; serious reform has to be made all across the board, from changes in immigration policies to more strict enforcement of penalties for employers who knowingly employ illegals to cracking down on the lucrative market of slave labor, not only in the US, but across the world.

I understand that for the most part, Immigrants are honest, hard working people who just want a better life for their children; it is sad that they sometimes become victims, not only of the "Coyotes", who con them into paying thousands of dollars to drive them into the middle of nowhere to fend for themselves to the politicians who see them as nothing more than easy votes, so they con them yet again into voting for them with promises of jobs and a better life, only to be suckered into it.

Every time I think about it, it makes me sick. I won't talk about it anymore.

YOU CAN CAGE AN ANIMAL, BUT YOU CAN'T TAKE AWAY THE RAGE.
is the analogy you're referring to the painting, or the article?
Also, I agree that the article I linked only addresses a puny snapshot of the problem of ilegal immigration, slave labour, and sweatshops. The problem is more vast than most people realize.
the article.

Ohhh, if there's one thing I hang onto,
It gets me through the night.
I aint gonna do what I don't want to,
Im gonna live my life.
Shining like a diamond, rolling with the dice,
Standing on the ledge, show the wind how to fly.
When the world gets in
